CELEBRATE AUSTRALIA’S EARLY CURRENCY!

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THIS SUBSCRIPTION?

The foundation stones of Australian coinage, the EIGHT commemoratives found in the History of Australian Coinage Collection – Volume One, represent a spectacular celebration of Australia’s numismatic rarities. Historically significant in its own right, each commemorative tribute has a unique tale to tell, and forms a powerful reflection of Australia – from the earliest colonial period up to the trying times of WW1 & WW2. With the vast majority of the originals extremely rare, and profoundly valuable, this prestigious collection gives every collector the chance to learn about, and enjoy, the designs of Australia’s most important numismatic rarities. Each commemorative is finished in either pure gold, rose gold or silver!

Eight Exciting Historical Commemoratives:
1909 Australia Pattern Florin Commemorative: Just months from inclusion in Australia’s first national coinage, ‘The Map of Australia 1909 Florin’ was instead lost to history. Approved by Treasury with the die prepared by Britain’s Royal Mint, this distinctly Australian coin was never struck!

1813 Holey Dollar & Dump Commemorative: Immensely rare today, these two ‘coins’ were introduced by Governor Lachlan Macquarie to address the severe currency shortage in the New South Wales colony, ensuring economic stability and promoting trade.

1855 Sydney Mint Sovereign Commemorative: Australia’s first sovereign struck at the nation’s first mint!

1797 Cartwheel Penny Commemorative: The first coin officially exported to colonial Australia.

1919 Australia Square Penny Commemorative: This early coin was ultimately abandoned because of difficulties in using square coins in vending machines.

1852 Adelaide Assay Office £5 Commemorative: While there is no conclusive evidence that the original £5 coin was ever struck in 1852, restrikes produced by the Melbourne Mint are considered priceless. These restrikes were made to celebrate the historic role of the Adelaide Assay Office in producing Australia's first official gold coinage.

1860 Hogarth Erichsen & Co Threepence Commemorative: One of the few silver Trader Tokens to circulate in Australia.

1850s Advance Australia Penny Commemorative: A token that was unofficial currency in the 19th Century – essential for everyday transactions.
