An ingenious currency issue, these rare notes were created by prisoners at the Hay Internment Camp, unbeknownst to authorities!
Printed in tiny numbers, and issued in March 1941, these notes represented a blatant contravention of Australian law.
Most were destroyed by August the same year. As a result, the Hay Internment Camp Sixpence is rare in any condition.
