An historic presentation, the $1 series plays a unique role in the history of Australian numismatics. First issued during the Coombs/Wilson signature combination from February 1966, the $1 note was destined to be Australia's briefest decimal note denomination. Falling victim to inflation, and to the greater durability and economy of a $1 coin, the last $1 note was issued from 1982 to 1984 during the Johnston/Stone signature combination.
