With most people earning less than £5 per week in the 1950s, it stands to reason that the high denomination £5 note represented too much spending power for people to pop aside for posterity.
Thus, as with the £10, the first Elizabeth II £5 is scarce in premium grade.
Still remarkably affordable in top quality, however, we have the 1954 £5 R49 Coombs/Wilson Commonwealth Banknote in Uncirculated condition.
