Sought after for the beauty, history and prestige, the Perth Mint’s 1911P Sovereign has one very particular attraction for the collector. This key date gold coin was the very first King George V sovereign struck at the Perth Mint!

Struck at the Perth branch of the Royal Mint in the coronation year of the then new British monarch, the 1911P is typical of all early George V Sovereigns – scarce in better grade. This is largely attributable to the fact that 1911 Sovereigns were among the last issued before the advent of the First World War.

A time when 22-carat gold sovereigns were still genuine circulation coins, a vast majority of sovereigns from the pre-WWI years were withdrawn from circulation and recycled by government, or are either well worn or simply lost to history. With the natural scarcity intensified by the number melted by profiteers for the intrinsic value over the years, the 1911P Gold Sovereign is tough-to-find in better grade – as presented here. The few coins available are in premium grade Extremely Fine to about Uncirculated condition!

Sure to be snapped up instantly due to the historic importance of the ‘first-issue’ status, each 1911P Gold Sovereign is beautifully presented in a timber case with a Certificate of Authenticity. Click add to cart now!
